Eng Aus ODI 4 Half Time: Lee Outshines Strauss in Crucial Home Game

In the attempt to prevent Australia from running away with a 4-0 sweep, England have had to pull up their socks at Lord's. Unfortunately only the England skipper appears to have found his.

Lord's saw another similar effort from England, which have been rather pathetic at the best of times in the ODIs. Andrew Strauss' sixty-three runs was a contrast to the rest of the pale line up that made a feeble attempt to stop the Australians extracting revenge for the Ashes defeat by humiliating the hosts in the ODI series.

Even when Australia have struggled, they have looked shades better than England, more pointedly in the batting department. Unfortunately for England, there was no one to follow up on Strauss' efforts as Brett Lee kept making pointers as to why he could have been a handful for England in the Ashes.

But Australia found another silver lining in spinner Nathan Hauritz who also showed he could hold his own, his ten overs yielding twenty-three runs for two wickets.

Lee's five wickets were the highlight of the innings as Strauss did not have a back up. Owais Shah steadied briefly with thirty-nine but what England really needed was an innings of impact to dent the Australian psyche, if not the run chase, but there was none forthcoming as England were bowled out for 220 in the forty-seventh over.
