Eng Pak T3 Day 4: Pakistan Withstand Fragile Nerves for Sensational Win by Four Wickets

--> -->

Mohammad Aamir skittled Stuart Broad for his five wickets but also, England to be dismissed all out for 222 after just one over in the morning. But that is where Pakistan's real test began, not to expose their fragility in their batting as they chased England's modest target of 148 on the fourth day of the third Test of the England Pakistan Test series at the Kensington Oval.

But as has been expected of Pakistan in recent times, no match ends without drama, irrespective of the result. For a while it seems like Pakistan would cruise to the total. Then suddenly England were in with a glimmer of hope.

Pakistan lost Yasir Hameed early and Imran Farhat, batting on thirty-three, with the score on fifty-seven and Graeme Swann getting into the act. And pretty soon trouble came along with Pakistan struggling to hold their nerves.

From 103 for three, they were reduced to six down for 132 and it seemed forever before Pakistan could score another run. If the Pakistan captain, Salman Butt, looked like he could well rue his team's chances, he was not far enough. After all, this dramatic collapse came just after Butt and Mohammad Yousif were putting together the winning formula. Butt himself made forty-eight runs while Yousuf made thirty-three before the cat was set amongst the pigeons.

Eventually Pakistan held their nerve and pulled of a four wicket victory, taking their tally in the series 1-2 with one Test to go.
