England have capped off a wonderful treble against Australia to round up what would seem like a great twelve months, barring that 6-1 loss to the Australians.

Andrew Strauss will be a rather proud England captain. His team have won over Australia in two of the three formats under his leadership and Sunday only enhanced it by bringing cheer to a grieving England. Rather than drowning in tears, the England cricket team gave the sports fans something to cheer about after beating their foes 3-0 in the five match NatWest Series.
Strauss was the England captain in the Test format when England sailed past Australia in the Ashes 2009, enticing a mouth watering contest down under at the end of 2010. Despite that drubbing in the ODI format, England have been able to avenge revenge in dramatic fashion to the extent that Strauss has admitted his team will now be looking at a whitewash.
Winning the 2010 ICC World Twenty20 was made sweeter still by the fact that England beat Australia comprehensively in the final to take the cake. That they have now beaten Australia in all three formats is something they will hold rather proudly against their name. But even England know the bigger battle still awaits them. After the slip after winning the Ashes of 2005, Strauss will be ever more eager to avoid that at all costs.
