England as No.1 Is Simply Sensational, Gushes England Coach

Even as a great many good things are being said about Andy Flower, the England coach, while keeping England grounded on what needs to be achieved, is also over the moon that England are the no.1 Test team after beating India 3-0 in the India England series.

England head coach Andy Flower says to claim the number-one spot in the Reliance ICC Test Championship is a sensational feeling on this week’s ICC Cricket World Radio Show.

Flower spoke of sweet success following the hard work but also revealed that England had planned for this moment:

It feels simply sensational to claim the number-one spot and it comes after a lot of hard training sessions and Test matches. It was a goal that spurred the whole side on and it’s very satisfying to have achieved that goal.

Flower though is not cornering the credit for England's success but rather has a word of praise for some of the England cricketers who have done outstandingly well. The England coach also heaped praise on two LG ICC Awards 2011 nominees, Alastair Cook and James Anderson,

Cook has done some amazing things as a player in his 27 year on this earth. With already 19 Test centuries, he can be proud of a very successful career. He is quite hungry for success and has a strong character. He is a good person, modest but strong in his way and good for the dressing room and when he comes out to perform on the field too.

James Anderson has got a lot better over the last few years. His learning as a bowler has accelerated. He has had a couple of nice bowling coaches in Ottis Gibson and now David Saker and also a nice group of bowlers to work with.

The group talks a lot and works together and creates pressure.

However, Flower being the restrained individual that he is despite the success is keeping England grounded by suggesting that while their initial signs have looked good, there is still plenty to be done before England touch new heights,

Our bowling depth looks ok but I would be reticent to get too starry-eyed about everything.

We cannot rest on our laurels.
