It is an interesting England ODI squad that will land in England. That is because England have decided to tweak personnel in their team, leaving room for Kevin Pietersen to return once more while James Anderson has been rested while fingers are crossed with regard to Stuart Broad’s availability.

The England team will arrive in India for a return ODI series and it should be a fascinating contest from the perspective that they arrive with a new England ODI captain in Alastair Cook and although the skipper has enjoyed a comprehensive series win in England over India recently, he may well realize that playing in India as the skipper may be a slightly different proposition.
What will make Cook’s job harder is the fact that he will be without two of his mainstay bowlers in James Anderson and Stuart Broad. While Broad is still trying to recuperate quick enough from his injured shoulder to captain England in the India England Twenty20 match, England will have to work with some new faces with the England spearhead, James Anderson, being rested for the Indian leg with a double aim of resting him from the grueling English summer but also, to try out a few new faces which is where the likes of rookie Stuart Meaker, relative newcomer Jade Dernbach and Scott Borthwick and Jonathan Bairstow will look to make themselves with household names in India.
India’s pride was hurt, particularly after they won the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011. In that India is likely to come at the England team harder and hopefully avoid some of the injuries that compromised their strength in England. However, England are being bold enough to mix some fresh faces with some senior players such as Graeme Swann who may well continue to be the England Twenty20 captain should England fail to recover.
More importantly, England have shown some restraint in that they are not willign to take chances with an entirely young squad. While Ravi Bopara retains his place after a good series against India, significantly Kevin Pietersen who was missing in action in the home series against India will make a comeback in India, the land where he last captained the England captain. Amidst speculation that Pietersen may even retire from one day cricket after being speculated as given time off for the rest of the year, Pietersen will look to make a greater impact on the return Indian tour.
This is the England ODI squad for India as announced:
Alastair Cook (captain), Jonathan Bairstow, Ian Bell, Ravi Bopara, Scott Borthwick, Tim Bresnan, Jade Dernbach, Steven Finn, Craig Kieswetter, Stuart Meaker, Samit Patel, Kevin Pietersen, Graeme Swann, Jonathan Trott, Chris Woakes
