Rain poured on the jubilant Pakistani side, and they were unable to post a victory over the struggling England side. The Sophia Gardens was all drenched in water and the One-Day tie between the two sides had to end in a draw.
If the rain would not have stopped play, it could have been a day of all humiliation for the Englishman. As it would have been their eighth straight limited-over defeat. On a pitch that has the statistics of 222 as an avg. 1st inning score, the struggling England side could manage a mere 202 batting first, it was an outstanding bowling performance by the Pakistani bowlers, Asif being the pick of them all. The Pakis would have had it their way had the rain gods been a little kind to them. The England side has to tie up their shoo laces and come out stronger in the next ODI.
