Despite winning a one-day series against India recently, when England landed in Sri Lanka no body expected them to win the one-day series against them. In the first one day international, England was beaten comprehensively but from that moment onward England has played like champion.
Being 2-1 up in the five match series, yesterday England defeated Sri Lanka by five wickets to clinch the one-day series. Earlier, Sri Lanka after winning the toss once again batted poorly and was all out for a paltry total of 211, thanks to some impressive bowling from England bowlers.
At one moment of time, Sri Lanka were struggling at 20 for 3 but then Kumar Sangakara and Chamara Silva staged a fight back but that was not enough as England bowler keep on bowling the steady line and length. Chasing a target of 212, England started confidently as opener Alistair Cook scored a brilliant half-century. Kevin Pieterson, who has so far struggled in the series, also scored a half-century. Playing without Muttiah Muralitharan, Sri Lanka bowling doesn’t look menacing. With tough tour of Australia coming up very shortly, Sri Lanka will hope that Muralitharan recover from his injury pretty quickly.
