Even England Are Prone to Humiliation As Bangladesh Gatecrash Hosts' Party by 5 Runs!

England may have been on a high. But the danger is going so high is that the fall is always the hardest. England were handed a humiliating five run loss by lowly Bangladesh in the second ODI encounter in Bristol that they will not be forgetting (and neither will the public and the media judging by the reactions in England).

Bangladesh trapped England through spin bowling and were richly rewarded for fighting back. With England tying themselves in knots chasing what has to be said was a modest target of 237, the chase became a struggle for the hosts that eventually ended up in embarrassment.

Imrul Kayes's seventy-four runs would now seem like gold given that Bangladesh felt they had sufficient runs to spring a nasty surprise defeat on the hosts. The hosts, for their part, were not making a case for themselves with lackadaisical fielding and batting that is only flattered by the fact that Jonathan Trott, not a regular in the team, made ninety-four runs albeit in vain as it turned out.

Credit must go to the Bangladesh bowlers who made life hard for the stumbling England batsmen who had a momentary loss of how to win a match. They could blame it on Australia and say that their traditional rivals had drained them. But no one in England is buying that story!
