The three counties facing heat over their meeting with Lalit Modi have rubbished reports that there was a parallel IPL in the pipeline. Instead they indicate their own disillusionment over the bidding system to host Test matches in England.

The suspended IPL Chairman and Commissioner was issued a second show cause notice by the BCCI a day earlier after the England and Wales Cricket Board ( ECB ) Chairman, Giles Clarke, stated that Modi was promoting a second IPL with the England counties against the nature of the game, and thereby, trying to destroy cricket.
However, the three counties, Warwickshire, Yorkshire and Lancashire denied that the meeting on the 31st of March, 2010, in which a couple of IMG officials was present as well, had anything to do with setting up an IPL-like tournament in England but rather were looking at viable options of raising revenue to improve grounds to attract Test bids.
The three county heads - Colin Povey, Stewart Regan and David Hodgkiss - stated disenchantment over the manner in which the ECB was conducting business of letting the counties bid for hosting international Test matches, which usually amounted to about nine venues for seven Tests and were looking to enhance their financial assets.
Regan spoke up, "There was never any firm discussion of any league or any proposals actually discussed. What was debated was the success of the IPL and how it had grown to be one of the most world’s most successful leagues inside two years."
He even added that the ECB Chairman was aware of what transpired at the meeting, "It was very much an above-board, transparent meeting. n fact, the chairman of the ECB was given a copy of the notes."
If everything is so crystal clear, what is Giles Clarke harping on and why is the BCCI hand in glove with him? The mayhem continues.
