Millions of dollars were spent on building five first class football stadiums for the FIFA World Cup 2010. However, there is no need to grieve because cricket may come to the rescue.

Cricket South Africa CEO, Gerald Majola spoke about the possibility of using some of the grand stadiums built for the football World Cup to be modified to use for cricket purposes.
CSA is reportedly interested particularly in the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban as well as the Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg. However, while Test cricket may be a stretch, the CSA is toying with the idea of expanding their domestic Twenty20 tournament to the new stadiums, although the lack of a window in the international cricket calendar is deterring them from expanding into something on the lines of the IPL.
