It would appear almost a knee jerk reaction. On what would have been the fifth day of the fourth Test of the Ashes at Headingley, England team decided to recall Andrew Flintoff for the fifth Test at the Oval.

It would appear just like that Flintoff has come back in the fifth Test. But the debacle at the fourth Test in Headingley has perhaps had the England team scared now that they have conceded an important lead in the Ashes and that too, without a fight.
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) are following a medical directive that states that the swelling on Flintoff's knee has reduced, to make him a distinct possibility for the Brit Oval.
Flintoff's agent had claimed that though the England all rounder was ready, he was not picked at Headingley. Now it appears there is more emotion than anything attached to Flintoff's selection. Not only will it be Flintoff's final farewell Test, it will also perhaps emphasize how much of Flintoff's adrenaline was important to England's success at Lord's in the second Test.
James Anderson meanwhile had a hamstring injury but is expected to make it as well.
