Andrew Flintoff may still be in troubled waters with the ECB over his contract. But he is willing to recount his most troubled moments as well as lend support to the troubled troops in Afghanistan.

The England all rounder is apparently interested in meeting British troops currently in Afghanistan in a manner of support and encouragement. This will perhaps happen while he is based in Dubai.
But Flintoff is also planning an autobiography and in it, he will deal in depth with his relationship with alcohol, his captaincy, the Ashes defeat among other things.
Flintoff spoke about how he and some of his team mates turned to alcohol for pain relief during the turbulent Ashes series of 2006-'07 in Australia, a series that England lost 5-0 after winning the Ashes of 2005. Flintoff was the captain and he spoke about how he almost lost his zest and called it quits to the captaincy.
The reason for that, he stated, was also his cold relationship with the England coach, Duncan Fletcher, with whom he famously never got along. Flintoff spoke about the lack of support from the support staff during that series.
But he was willing to admit that while Fletcher exaggerated the drinking episodes of Flintoff, that he did turn up drunk during the Commonwealth Bank series on that tour and that he did not do the right thing.
He also referred to the pedalo incident when Flintoff was supposed to have fallen asleep drunk while on the water. While he claims the story was dragged, he is afraid of the repercussions on his children.
Now that Flintoff has more time for recuperation, perhaps there is time to still regain his strength and pull through a few more energetic bursts for England. As long as the good overweighs the evil...
