This appears to be a marriage of convenience.
England all rounder Andrew Flintoff recently moved to Dubai in the UAE to recuperate from his knee surgery and hoping the warmer climes would do the trick.

Flintoff is hoping to use the Dubai Sports City stadium where he will begin his recuperation process. In turn, he will be lending his experience to the UAE cricket team. It appears to have become a convenient deal, one that will certainly go down well with the UAE team, and perhaps one that will for Flintoff's health as well.
