The joint top money raker along with Kevin Pietersen in the IPL auctions, Flintoff will now miss out on the pay cheque after confirming that he will not be participating in the IPL 3 in India representing the Chennai Super Kings. Expressing his gratitude for the franchisee for sticking by him, he stated that the rehabilitation post knee surgery would not get him fit and ready for the contest.

However, Flintoff, who announced his retirement from Test cricket during the Ashes of 2009, is considering reversing his decision after an optimistic report from his doctor. He is first testing the waters looking to play for Lancashire in the English county season in the four day format and thereafter, contemplate the possibility of playing for England, especially in next year's Ashes.
