Some new year resolutions are made, others are broken. This one is a bit of both.

It appears no one even seems surprised or even cares to notice that the traditional New Year Test at Sydney has not begun today, the 2nd of January. Instead the third and final Test between Australia and South Africa begins tomorrow, the 3rd of January.
That means it is breaking traditions by not sticking to the accepted norm of the Boxing Day Test beginning a day after Christmas and the New Year Test one day after, well, the new year!
Of course few can forget last year's New Year 'treat' when cricket nearly went to war over Harbhajan Singh being accused of being a racist as Andrew Symonds struggled to deal with the taunts when they were dished back to him while showing no qualms shelling some of his own.
Well, at times when more than one tradition is already been broken and more is being threatened to be added to the list, this is just going to be one of many.
