The BCCI is apparently unhappy over the way the entire issue revolving around the injury to Gautam Gambhir has been handled by the Kolkata Knight Riders' franchisee. The media circus that has become Gautam Gambhir's participation in the IPL 4, yet again stirring the club versus country dilemma, has led the BCCI into a huddle on the best way to tackle with this mess.

The Indian selectors had named Gautam Gambhir as India's captain for the forthcoming India West Indies. But now with the KKR physio, Andrew Leipus, updating the BCCI on the grave extent of Gambhir's injury, there is fury over why Gambhir was playing the IPL 4 eliminator that the Kolkata Knight Riders eventually lost to the Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium despite the physio having the information in hand that required extensive rest and recuperation for the KKR captain.
While Gambhir has washed his hands off, stating that he was not updated himself by the physio on how serious his injuries are, Gambhir has apparently rubbed the BCCI the wrong way because certain BCCI officials are not willing to take Gambhir's word at face value, alleging that given the extent of hampered he was by the injury, he would have known that he was not fit enough to play and risking further time on the field could jeopardize his trip to the Caribbean.
While the BCCI were apparently initially upset with Gambhir opting to play the IPL 4 match rather than be concerned about his participation in the Indian cricket team, the BCCI seems to have also turned the heat on the Kolkata Knight Riders franchisee, painting the picture that perhaps the franchisee forced the player to play despite knowing how this injury could affect his national duties.
With Gambhir also putting the onus back on Leipus, it remains to be seen what is the ultimate collective viewpoint of the BCCI in the matter that has blown up to grab the headlines, side distractions becoming the norm of the otherwise quiet IPL 4.
