South Africa's middle order batsman Herschelle Gibbs scripted a glorious record in the cricketing history hitting six sixes in an over against the Netherlands in the ongoing World Cup Group A match in St Kitts.

The right-hander achieved the all-time best figure in the 30th over of the match when he went on a rampage against the leg-spinner Daan van Bunge.
The first six came over long-on, then Gibbs hit twice over the long-off. Then, he gave a powerful stroke to Bunge's full toss, another six over long-on and the sixth six was over long-off.
Gibbs's prolific innings that ended 72 off 40 balls with seven sixes and four boundaries gave South Africa a massive total of 353 in 40 overs in the rain-affected match.
Earlier, the record of most sixes in an over was jointly held by Sri Lanka's Sanath Jayasuriya and Shaun Pollock of South Africa. Both have punched four consecutive sixes in an over.
Yesteryears batting icon of West Indies, Garry Sobers hit six sixes in one over in a Sunday League match in 1968, while former Indian test cricketer Ravi Shastri had also the same feat in a first-class match.
