Commenting on cricket's status in multi sports events such as the Asian Games and the Olympics, the Sports Minister has his own personal take on the issue.

M.S. Gill reflected on the tight international cricket schedules that the Indian cricketers were being subjected to and stated in his typical fashion, "There are so many tournaments that the boys are simply too tired. Even race horses should be rested."
About the controversy over the BCCI deciding against sending an Indian cricket team for the Asian Games, Gill left the ultimate decision to the BCCI. However, he stated that in his personal capacity and not a person holding the post, that he had his reservations about including in sports events such as the Olympics of the Guangzhou Games in China, the hosts for the Asiad.
