God or Sachin? The Pictures Make A Point; Intentionally or Otherwise

--> -->

If a picture speaks a thousand words, Sachin Tendulkar hogging the headlines alongside the Gods should tell the entire story.

sachin v god
sachin v god

Sachin Tendulkar, the man with fifty Test centuries and ninety-six international centuries in both, Tests and ODIs, is not lightly referred to as God. And for no small reason because for a communally charged politicized nation, only the religion of cricket unites like no other.

If one observes the pic above carefully, it shows a collage of newspaper headlines, astrology heavy calendars and a good mixture of deities. At the same when Tendulkar slammed his fiftieth Test century, the devotees were marking the important time of Datta Jayanti which would explain the Gods on display.

Sachin Tendulkar has been generously lauded and deservingly so for the feats he has achieved in cricket and continues to do so with a slew of records that belong solely to him. It is natural that while he draws comparisons with greats such as the late great Sir Donald Bradman or amongst his contemporaries to the talented by sometimes flawed Brian Lara, in India, Sachin Tendulkar is revered as a God whose cult following could well be the envy of the Gods themselves

Although there are some Bollywood stars including Salman Khan adoring the magazines, the prominence belongs to the deities invoked on the occasion of Datta Jayanti and Sachin Tendulkar. Need any more elaboration?
