Google's Serbian Language Reads ‘Suresh Raina is God’ as ‘Sachin Tendulkar is God’

Sachin Tendulkar’s success is intact even though Suresh Raina’s fans may be a tad disappointed. That is because a technical glitch in the Serbian language translation on Google refuses to acknowledge anyone else but Sachin Tendulkar as God.

One of the most amusing tales to reveal itself has to be the case of the translate option on Google denying Suresh Raina greatness and instead according the status rather rightly to Sachin Tendulkar. But in terms of functionality, it is clearly a glitch but one that cricket fans seem not to be able to get enough.

Suresh Raina is currently on duty in the West Indies as the Indian captain with Mahendra Singh Dhoni being rested for the ODI leg of the tour. But undoubtedly rather than be disappointed, perhaps Raina will also the lighter side to the story. Having played alongside Tendulkar, Raina himself looks up to Tendulkar and it would seem that rather than seeing this as an insult, Raina would feel rather proud albeit with a sense of humour that his name is being associated with a giant in the sport.

Serbia may not have a cricket team as representation but their inadvertent reverence for the batting maestro will perhaps prompt a change of thought in the country. However, in the opportunity of the glitch, people will acquaint themselves with the shape of the words and get to acknowledge that the Serbian language deserves attention although it is certainly not on the top of the charts amongst the most popular foreign languages taught in India. May be that will change.

It is quite shocking, but amusing nevertheless, except perhaps you happen to be Suresh Raina, which could still be a privilege if seen in the right perspective. For Sachin Tendulkar fans, it was yet another testimony of the genius of Tendulkar and another reason Tendulkar has been shelved amongst the game’s immortals even before he has officially hung up his boots. If anything, Tendulkar has perhaps only become more ominously dangerous in the last couple of years to signal that by the time he is done with the game, the distance between the top spot and second best could widen to unbreakable proportions.

Sachin Tendulkar’s status in the cricket world cannot be denied. Revered as a God by the cricket crazy country, on the one occasion of the glitch, the country could not have perhaps been prouder of Google.
