The former Indian coach took yet another jibe against India, but this time trying to put a positive spin on it despite the obvious while speaking of the dearth of talent back home in Australia.

Greg Chappell would not be blamed for being a little envious of Gary Kirsten after India won the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 in addition to becoming the no.1 Test team in the world. The harmony in the present dressing room is a stark contrast to the tumultuous reign with Chappell as the Indian coach.
Once more making a reference to India off whom he had once stated he was washing his hands off, Chappell reiterated the need for Australia to build on their bench strength. In doing so, Chappell stated blatantly that India could afford to "waste talent" in that they could overlook a couple of deserving players and it would not hurt their prospects as far as cricket success was concerned.
Skeptics of Guru Greg as he was ironically given the moniker would naturally wonder if he is slamming India even as he is paying a compliment to the treasury of talent in the country. That Chappell is obviously harbouring heartburn from his experience is evident because in the statement he has made, he is claiming to have made it from seeing it first hand, perhaps in reference to the fact that Chappell had a few ideas of his own, some more radical than others, which did not really benefit India in execution and on the contrary, portrayed Chappell in an uncomfortable light as far as his coaching stint was concerned.
Chappell was though making a point with matters back in Australia where he has been serving as a selector. With Australia on a steady decline over the past years with the retirement of some of the giants of the game in Shane Warne, Glenn McGrath and others and the newcomers in the team not quite having the same effect on the Australian public, Chappell was emphasizing on the need for Australia to make talent count for more, obviously suggesting that in his opinion, he thinks Australia are struggling to discover talent in abundance.
