Harbhajan Singh is concerned that opting out of player retention would not be beneficial for the IPL teams.

The Mumbai Indians player feels his identity in the IPL is linked to the team and he believes that if the entire lot of players are thrown into the IPL 4 auctions, the team will completely dissolve its identity.

He feels like the football clubs such as the Premier League, players should also have the option of whether or not to stay with a team or throw their names back into the hat.

Bhajji concerns come after the IPL franchisees are believed to have informed the IPL governing council that they did not wish to retain players. The turnaround is surprising given that some of the franchisees were rather vocal and pleading with Lalit Modi on camera for news channels, asking for consideration of player retention with two new teams joining them in IPL 4.
