Harmison Denies retirement, Wants Ashes Avenging

England's fast bowler, Steve Harmison, has denied any plans to retire from international cricket at the end of the Ashes. If anything, he appears only too eager to get a cracking opportunity against Australia.

Harmison was picked in the England team when Andrew Flintoff's injury first surfaced in the first Test at Cardiff. However, with Flintoff keen to play every game before his retirement at the end of the Ashes, Harmison recent bowling efforts have been restricted to Durham. He is keen however to contribute to the England team if a void should develop when Flintoff eventually retires.

Kevin Pietersen brought Harmison back for the final Test against South Africa last year. The man who flourished under Michael Vaughan, especially in the Ashes of 2005, has dreadful memories of Ashes 2006-'07 and wants an opportunity to once again set Australia back. While he has stated that he would like to know where he stands as far as making it to the England team is concerned, Harmison said he would speak to England coach, Andy Flower, and England captain, Andrew Strauss, but would not retire even if they felt otherwise.
