South Africa's never been and yet significant cricketer, Hylton Ackerman passed away on the 2nd of September.

Ackerman is perhaps better known as a commentator than as a cricketer because his cricket came at a time when South Africa were banned under apartheid, although he did open the innings with Sunil Gavaskar in a World XI team in 1971-'72.
HD Ackerman, son of Hylton, played briefly for South Africa but could not establish himself on a more regular basis. Hylton was known to play a greater role behind the scenes and for those touched by him, the news has brought sadness.
