A Test championship could become a possibility in the near future and the ICC seem to be taking into account the aspirations of the cricket playing nations and the FICA for a change.

The ICC chief executive, Haroon Lorgat, indicated the same when handing the mace over to the Indian captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, as India went to the top of the ICC Test rankings.
Lorgat said a committee of five was formed to find a feasible format for a Test championship which would bring about a greater uniform to the number of Tests being played between teams at regular intervals to determine a better way to adjudge the top team int he world.
It would aim to answer the concerns of FICA that more influence was being brought to bear upon the Twenty20 format, predominantly so the IPL, instead of focussing on ensuring a more reasonable Future Tours Programme (FTP) post 2012.
