After the early late wake up calls, Pakistan conquered the Irish threat as a matter of formality to make it to the semi finals of the ICC World Twenty20 in England.

Pakistan found only captain William Porterfield for defiance with the bat and to a certain extent Kevin O’Brien as Ireland predictably faltered in their run chase 159 set by Pakistan. Amongst the chief wreckers were Saaed Ajmal with four wickets that accounted for the Ireland captain as well as the middle order while Umar Gul lent a helping hand with two wickets.
Ireland slipped for 120 but Pakistan’s 159 was raised largely due to the wicket keeper Kamran Akmal’s half century opening the innings and cameo knocks from Shahzaib Hasan, Shahid Afridi and Misbah ul Haq. Ireland fast bowlers failed to rein in a check and even Kyle McCallan’s spin which took two wickets could not halt the runaway train.
