The former Pakistan captain fears for the cause of the fast bowlers and thinks one way to ensure the breed's sustainability is by scrapping the fifty over format.

Imran Khan spoke about fast bowling becoming a thing of the past much like extinct a la dinosaurs. While he feels one way to eliminate burn out is by taking the fifty over matches out of the equation, he also did not think Test cricket standard was holding up, "The stress on fast bowlers is incredible. But cricket without fast bowling is never going to be the same standard if a batsman doesn't test himself against fast bowling. I saw (Australia's) Shaun Tait bowl in the Twenty20s and I thought an alien had come in - you suddenly saw batsmen hopping about.
"Maybe we should eliminate 50-over cricket and just have Twenty20 cricket and Test cricket. I don't believe Test cricket is the same standard as before."
