Ind-Aus ODI ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 Warm up Half Time: Brett Lee Sends India Crashing

It was not fun in the park for the Indian cricket team as they faced Australia in their ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 warm up match in Chennai. At half time, Brett Lee signalled he was at the top of his game. The same could not be said of the Indian cricket team on the day.

One could say that since it was a warm up, India did not want to reveal their 'A' game to the opponents. However, the fact remains that Australia will feel more confident after his bowling outing, given that their bowlers brought their best to the table and showed off rather impressively before the main event.

Brett Lee in particular was the highlight of the first innings of the match, almost undoing India's idea to win the toss and bat first. If Lee was economical in his first spell, he was devastating in the second, hastening India's misery in the batting department to the disappointment of the fans who turned up at the stadium despite this only being a warm up match.

Virender Sehwag's half century stood out like a lone point to write about the Indian batting as they were undone by the Australians. Wickets were shared all around but it was Lee who it has to be said strangled India by bowling tight early and then, came back to ensure that India did not recover.

However, Yusuf Pathan proved to be a pain in the neck as did the partnership for the final wicket between Ashish Nehra and Ravichandran Ashwin as it kept Australia in the field longer and also, added valued runs to take India to 214 all out.
