India were placed rather nicely at the end of the fourth day's play of the first Test against Bangladesh in Chittagong after Gautam Gambhir took a step closer to the late Sir Don Bradman of Australia.

India set Bangladesh a daunting fourth innings target of 415, declaring on 413 for eight. That was made possible after a better batting performance from India in the second innings, especially with Gautam Gambhir levelling with South Africa's Jacques Kallis and Pakistan's Mohamnmad Yousuf for the most number of consecutive Test centuries - five, one behind Bradman himself who did it once before four on the trot.
V.V.S. Laxman was the only big contributor of the day with sixty-seven while Amit Mishra earned a half century for his efforts as a nightwatchman.
VVS went on to drop two catches, else perhaps Bangladesh would have been in greater trouble. As it turned out, Bangladesh lost two key players in Imrul Kayes and Shariar Nafees, the latter playing like there was no tomorrow. But there is a final day's play and Bangladesh will find it difficult to draw under pressure, even at home.
