Ind NZ ODI Series: It is a 5-0 Whitewash As India Savour Numbing New Zealand in Series

Yuvraj Singh is hungry, alright. As in the rest of the Indian cricket team that has been left behind in India to compete against New Zealand. As it turned out, New Zealand were no match to the rampant Indians who completed a 5-0 ODI series in Chennai.

New Zealand appeared to have given away the last bit of fight left in them. The result was a rather sedate end to the tour in the fifth ODI wherein New Zealand threw in the towel, bowled out for 103 in only twenty-seven overs.

It was an unusual match under the circumstances given that the affair was rather limp from New Zealand's end as Scott Styris managed the top score of twenty-four in an innings that saw Yuvraj Singh smile away in his role as a part time bowler, picking up two wickets conceding only five runs in his two overs. Yusuf Pathan had a good follow up, picking two for eleven off three overs. Ironically while R. Ashwin continued to climb up on the popularity charts with three wickets, Ashish Nehra's continued his expensive spell from the previous match.

The chase was an equally mundane affair for the Indian team, led by Gautam Gambhir who would no doubt be thrilled about the series win with the Indian team short staffed on the regulars who are currently in South Africa.

While he himself disappeared without a run on board and Virat Kohli with India having only ten runs on board, India did not have to look too far for rescue. Parthiv Patel and Yuvraj Singh worked their magic once more, forged a partnership that saw India to the end, which came as early at the twenty-second over with Patel scoring a half century and Yuvraj nearly there on forty-two.
