Another run fest looked on the cards as Sri Lanka looked in rampaging mood. But that changed for India once Ravindra Jadeja took the ball in his hand.

Virender Sehwag, standing in as captain for the banned Mahendra Singh Dhoni, must have wondered if the fortunes of the team were set to continue, captain or no captain. The wicket of Tillekeratne Dilshan, taken by Ashish Nehra while the Sri Lankan was batting on forty-one and Sri Lanakn sixty-five in 6.2 overs, did little to halt the Sri Lankans at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack in the third ODI after Sri Lanka chose to bat.
A century run stand ensued between Kumar Sangakkara and Upul Tharanga who raised Sri Lanka to 162 in 22.2 overs. But thereafter a slip up cost Sri Lanka dear.
Dinesh Karthik had a torrid time in the field, dropping half chances, missing a stumping and what have you. It appears that Karthik was showing all the unwanted signs of a wicket keeper and why he had such a limited taste of international cricket.
Sangakkara's wicket then was in itself nothing short of a miracle. Sangakkara walked out of his crease to Sehwag batting on forty-six, Karthik failed to collect the ball first time round but managed to gather his wits about him and disrupt the bails in time before Sangakkara fully realized the consequence of his actions.
And that was all that was needed for sloppy India to wake up and smell the roses. Ravindra Jadeja chose to make a case for himself, first snaring the key wicket of Upul Tharanga. Harbhajan Singh chipped in with the wicket of Mahela Jayawardene and Sri Lankans suddenly found themselves at 4 down for 173 at the half way mark, as the slower bowlers appeared to have stemmed the flow of runs.
Sri Lanka will be worried about their collapse as they lost nine of their wickets for just seventy-three runs and from losing to post in the region of 300 and beyond, Sri Lanka lost the plot, the momentum and virtually the match by being bowled out for 239 in a little over forty-four overs as Jadeja starred with four wickets.
