India Are Playing Sri Lanka Too Much? Don't Believe It? Statistics Will Show Why

Get the deja vu feeling about a ODI, even a final, between India and Sri Lanka? Here's why.

As India confront Sri Lanka in the tri series final of the Idea Cup at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, Bangladesh, it will be the 121st ODI between the two teams. Although one could argue that this was not planned - even Bangladesh could have been in the final - one would have to refute that purely based on the odds.

There is now confirmation that the two neighbours are bumping into each other way too often that it sometimes seems like India and Sri Lanka are playing in a league of their own as the rest of the world takes on each other.

There is a reason to feel that way because they have now surpassed the Australia-West Indies face offs. So, it will be less of a surprise if the players get so familiar that they may even share a comfort level of sharing each other's pains, national duties notwithstanding.

The blues are merging together, rather blending into anonymity and for cricket's sake, one can only hope that this couple, blissfully unaware of the gap they are creating amongst other teams, find new pairings to give cricket something else to discuss besides an Ind Sri Lanka contest.

But that will have to wait until the end of the final contest.
