Even though India have been in a strong position and even winning the ODI series against England, it has failed to enthuse crowds.

India seem well on their way towards a series whitewash against the visiting England team at the Eden Gardens stadium in Kolkata. However, there seem few takers for it just as there have been few takers right through the ODI series, including during the fourth ODI at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Even as India appear to be on the path of redemption, that too without a few of their brightest stars in the cricket arena, it would seem that they have also inflicted enough damage on themselves on the tour of England to keep cricket fans away from the stadium which is a rather difficult feat. While India has earned praise for vanquishing the team that hurt them so much on the tour of England, there is also a section of the cricket frenzy Indian population that is more critical is suggesting that India are tigers at home and lambs abroad which is not entirely true of Indian cricket, particularly in the past couple of years. Others have even criticized that the England team also has a few fresh faces that need to adjust to Indian playing conditions.
However, the fact remains that the Indian cricket have registered four wins on the trot with the win in the fourth ODI at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai and won the series 3-0 in the third ODI itself to draw some credit. What may not have worked in their factor apart from the fact that the tour of England was largely uninspiring is in that there is the feeling that cricket fatigue or viewer fatigue has set in and post the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011, the IPL 4 too took a massive hit. With the mega festival of Diwali, it would be hard to confine fans to cricket stadiums or their television sets which would also explain why there has been such a poor response.
Ironically another spot in India has proved to be plenty of distraction with the first ever Indian F1 Grand Prix slated for the coming weekend in the country's capital which has seen a spike in Formula 1 and racing interests and without the stars in the Indian cricket team at the moments, the stars of the racing circuit are slowly but surely filling up the interest for the weekend, even though the race will be only held once a year, which is why cricket can still claim a stronghold in the country.
