The Indian team is going through something that is never been tried before. The team has been divided into three groups of five players each. Each set of five players gets three days of undivided attention. According to the coach Greg Chappell, this camp is for personal development of the players. He says that the players have been playing a lot of cricket these days so conducting such camps will help them develop both mentally and physically.
Should the Indian team have some practice matches instead of this camp? Sachin Tendulkar is not 100% fit but say that he is fit to play, should he be given a chance to play in a very important tri angular series coming up in Malasia without seeing whether he is match fit or not, or should he be replaced with some young talent. Sachin is eager to play some practice matches but the team could not be assembled as many players have their commitments with Add agencies. Is this commercial aspect important or the team integrity?
The Indian team has not been able to know the results of the camp that were held before the Sri Lanka tour because the series was washed away by rains. In addition to that, here they are holding another camp how is the team management going to make out which camp has benefited which player and in what way.
