Notwithstanding Michael Vaughan's defiant century and Paul Collingwood's last-ditch effort with his bat to save the Nottingham test for England, Team India is placed at a comfortable pedestal to win the match. At the close of the fourth day play Team India at 10 for none needs just 63 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the Test series.

Though the fourth day began well for England and the bright sunshine climate at Nottingham witnessed masterstroke play by the English batsmen, the Indian bowlers struck decisively after the tea break to clinch a vital road to win. England captain Michael Vaughan led his team from the front and scored a valiant century. Both Collingwood and Andrew Strauss went beyond the half-century.
When everything was going on the English way, the Team India rallied itself well to stem the tide and it succeeded in the effort. Zaheer Khan struck at the right moment to scalp 5 wickets and the last seven England batsmen tumbled for just 68 runs. The seamer trio of Team India Zaheer, RP Singh and Sreesanth showed their extreme performance to test the England batsmen with their speed, bounce and swing. Anil Kumble bowled menacingly taking last three wickets.
Team India is at the gate of victory and it's the rain that can only save England from a inglorious defeat. The victory for the team and the result may wash out the wrong umpire decisions and match sledging that dominated the last two days play.
