India got off to a rollicking start, thanks to some enterprising batting from Sachin Tendulkar and Saurav Ganguly. Although Sachin was unlucky to be given out for 99 but the opening stand gave the likes of Dravid, Yuvraj a launching pad to attack in the last few years. India posted a mammoth total of 329 in their fifty overs.
Rahul Dravid, widely been regarded as a nudger and blocker smashed 92 from just 63 balls. For England, Andrew Flintoff took five wickets. Chasing a target of 330, England too started well but none of their batsman able to post big scores. For India, leg-spinner dismissed Kevin Pietersen but also accounted for England captain Paul Collingwood.
