The Indian selectors announced the Indian ODI squad for the tour of the West Indies and not surprisingly as was expected earlier, a few senior Indian cricketers including Mahendra Singh Dhoni will be taking it easy.

Gautam Gambhir has been named as the Indian captain for the ODI part of the West Indies tour and he will lead a mix of the known and surprise elements as was announced in the squad. Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Sachin Tendulkar were amongst the prominent names to be rested as also, Zaheer Khan, the spearhead of the Indian bowlign attack.
Virender Sehwag and Ashish Nehra will both miss the series due to injuries. But it has left the room open for a few interesting if not surprising choices. Ishant Sharma finds his way back into the team as does Vinay Kumar. Praveen Kumar returns from the elbow injury that kept him out of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011.
Dhoni's absence as a wicket keeper has given Parthiv Patel and Wriddiman Saha surprise call ups while keeping Dinesh Karthik out. Rohit Sharma and Yuvraj Singh will be expected to play all rounders for a bowling attack that see Harbhajan Singh backed by Amit Mishra who has surprisingly selected ahead of Piyush Chawla who was picked for the World Cup.
