The Indian government is not taking the issue of the threats to sports events lightly. And neither are officials about Ejaz Butt's presence in the Pakistan Cricket Board.

India's foreign secretary, Nirupama Rao, is understood to have passed on a dossier on Ilyas Kashmiri, the Al Qaeda operative, to Pakistan's foreign secretary, Salman Bashir, over threats to the international sports events in India including the 2010 Hockey World Cup, the 2010 Commonwealth Games and the 2010 IPL 3.
There are also unofficial concerns that the omission of the Pakistan cricketers in the IPL 3 could increase the risk of a possible terror attack.
There are also reports circulating in the Pakistan media that that cricket officials in India are moving the Pakistan President, Asif Al Zardari, to remove the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman, Ejaz Butt, from the post in his capacity so that cricket relations between the two countries can be more cordial. They have alleged that the atmosphere created under Butt has caused Indo Pak ties to strain the cricket world.
