The morning's disaster of watching an ODI being abandoned was enough for the BCCI and the DDCA to admit having their tails between their legs. But the Delhi mishap was waiting to happen as past evidence shows.

The BCCI, taking immediate cognizance of the Ferozshah Kotla ODI being abandoning due to poor pitch conditions has decided to disband with immediate effect the Grounds and Pitches Committee currently headed by Daljit Singh and supported by Dhiraj Parsana (west), PR Viswanathan (south), Rajiv Gokhale (central) and Rahul Das (east).
The terse statement was handed out by none other than N. Srinivasan, the BCCI secretary who was present at the Delhi venue with the DDCA (Delhi and District Cricket Association) President and BJP member, Arun Jaitley, as the events unfolded.
Meanwhile Arun Jaitley issued a statement, "DDCA regrets the inconvenience caused to all spectators and others. We offer our apologies to them. All gate tickets will be refunded. A detailed announcment in this regard will be made shortly."
This is the second time in twelve years that a match has been abandoned in India, on that occasion, it was Indore. And on eyes will be on Delhi which is also set to host matches in the 2011 ICC World Cup.
