The Royal Challengers Bangalore have been the butt of jokes through the first IPL and the middle of the second IPL season. However, their wins have been creditable and their being in the hunt makes them still an exciting prospect.

The Kolkata Knight Riders had captain Brendon McCullum and Australian return David Hussey going for them. But the KRR team was up against Ross Taylor and the collective force of the RCB team.
McCullum’s eighty-four from sixty-four balls saw a concerted effort on the part of the beleaguered captain. But despite his and Hussey’s forty-three from twenty-seven, the RCB team chased down the target of 173 on the back of a belligerent, commanding innings on the part of New Zealand compatriot Ross Taylor. Taylor’s unbeaten eighty-one was the crux of the RCB effort although their opening stand of fifty-eight between Jacques Kallis and Jesse Ryder also played its part.
