The Mumbai Indians needed a thumping win. The Kings XI Punjab have been a desperate lot. It showed in the way they batted at Supersport Park, Centurion in the IPL 2.

Sunny Sohal’s forty-three was the only saving grace in a dismal scorecard for 119 for the Kings XI Punjab. The batting line up simply failed to fire up, indicative of the fact that JP Duminy picked up two wickets for fifteen runs in four overs.
Mumbai Indians had little trouble in chasing the modest target as Dwayne Bravo ignited the innings with power and was well supported by MI captain Sachin Tendulkar. While Tendulkar’s class was not in question, his batting down the order meant that Bravo, sent up the order to open, had to provide the impetus which he did with panache. Bravo’s unbeaten seventy from fifty-nine balls and Tendulkar’s forty-one ensured a rather comfortable victory for the team that is in desperate needs of runs and momentum.
It was an embarrassing loss for the Kings XI Punjab as they watched MI coast to victory with nearly five overs to spare.
