IPL 3 Closing Ceremony Has Better Reception than Closing Ceremony

The IPL 3 closing ceremony certainly had more life than the IPL 3 opening ceremony that saw famous international names but paled into insignificance at the same venue, the D.Y. Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.

The anxious wait for the IPL 3 final between the Mumbai Indians and the Chennai Super Kings was preceded by the closing ceremony with Lalit Modi very much in attendance. As for the BCCI officials, one can only tell what one could spot.

The highlights of the IPL 3 closing ceremony:

Oscar Winner And Grammy Award winner for the soundtrack from "Slumdog Millionaire" did not sing "Jai Ho" but A.R. Rahman mouthed words to the inspirational 'Chale Chalo' from Aamir Khan starrer 'Lagaan' also based on cricket.

Thereafter Bollywood actress Bipasha Basu had hearts racing...with the theme song from the movie

"Race". Then gave way to the frivolous theme song from "All the Best."

That brought forth Bollywood actor, Shahid Kapoor shaking a leg to the soundtrack from his latest flick "Badmaash Company", the torn jeans seeming to become his signature style because he certainly would not be running out jeans (torn jeans for the Extraa Innings studio appearance as well). Then he had to go back to the movie that made him the actor he is, "Kaminey" starring Priyanka Chopra of course. Singing out of tune, Shahid managed to get the crowd to respond to him.

Shahid later revealed he had deliberately chosen a blue shirt to root for the Mumbai Indians and was waiting for Sachin Tendulkar.

But wait. A.R. Rahman came back for the "Jai Ho" even as a giant dummy of a batsman was wheeled out only to be followed by another of Rahman's original popular version of "Vande Mataram" (gives one the goose pimples every time one hears it!).
