The Deccan Chargers did not enjoy home outing yet again while Sachin Tendulkar was given a rousing 38th birthday party as the Mumbai Indians stormed to victory in the Mumbai Indians v Deccan Chargers encounter in the IPL 4.

Although Davy Jacobs, on thiryt-two, and Tendulkar, on twenty-eight, made reasonable start to the Mumbai Indians innings, it was not until Rohit Sharma and Andrew Symonds decided to make a meal of the match that the Deccan Chargers began to feel heat under the collar.
Reducing Mumbai to four down seventy after being none down for forty-seven was a call the hosts thought was going their way. With Amit Mishra in his element, the Mumbai Indians suddenly found themselves with little to back up their opening attack.
However, Rohit Sharma and Andrew Symonds had other ideas. In a belligerent partnership that followed, the Mumbai Indians made the most of the final ten overs, and in that pushed the Chargers to the wall. Fifty-six runs for Rohit Sharma, who dazzled with five boundaries and three sixes, and forty-four runs for Symonds from thirty-three balls ensured that the Mumbai Indians would finish strongly on 172.
That total proved too much for the Deccan Chargers as four of their players got into double figures but failed to score anything of sizable interest. Deccan Chargers captain, Kumar Sangakkara, managed to top with thirty-two runs but it was never going to be enough.
If the Charges found the going difficult, it was largely due to a man by the name of Lasith Malinga who has been a force with the ball for the Mumbai Indians. His four overs yielded just nine runs whil eh picked up three wickets, including that of Sangakkara, to seriously dent the Deccan Chargers and limit them to 135, the Mumbai Indians winning by thirty-seven runs.
