The Delhi Daredevils did not know what hit them at the Ferozeshah Kotla in New Delhi as the Mumbai Indians stomped all over them in the first IPL 4 encounter.

Lasith Malinga tore early into the Daredevils line up, taking the dangerous David Warner out of the equation while a dreadul run out did the Daredevils captain, Virender Sehwag, in. That was a terrible blow because until that point, it appeared as if Sehwag could lead the team forward.

Apart from Naman Ojha and Venugopal Rao, Daredevils had practically nothing going for them as Malinga kept eating into the line up, a five-for ample reward in the context of a Twenty20 match. It was poor showing for the host team as they folded on ninety-five off less than eighteen overs.

Mumbai Indians had a relatively ease ride of the chase even though they lost Davy Jacobs early. Sachin Tendulkar quickly got into his role as the Mumbai Indians captain to score a sizable chunks of the runs, forty-six to be precise, with Rohit Sharma staying on in the end for Mumbai Indians to score a facile eight wicket victory in seventeen overs.
