Chris Gayle made Adam Gilchrist's Kings XI Punjab spectators in the IPL 4 match as he gave the Royals Challengers Bangalore yet another win and Siddharth Mallya a great birthday present. The Kings XI Punjab, like the Kolkata Knight Riders, found themselves merely watching on as the West Indian unleashed his power.

The left handers' innings included forty-nine balls of which he slammed ten boundaries and nine sixes as he plundered the Kings XI Punjab for 107 runs. The 111 run partnership for the second wicket between Gayle and Virat Kohli was a completely dominant affair on the part of Gayle. And by the time he was out of sight courtesy Piyush Chawla, Ryan Harris' three wicket effort could not stop the Royal Challengers Bangalore from making 205.

With a formidable target like that, it did not help that the Kings XI Punjab lost their skipper without a run on board and then, fell into deeper trouble at two down for five and then again four wickets down for thirty-four. Twenty runs from Dinesh Karthik, twenty-one runs from Paul Valthaty and twenty-eight runs from Ryan McLaren were not going to be enough and it was pretty much downhil for the Kings XI Punjab.

What made it even more brilliant for the Royal Challengers Bangalore was the fact that Sreesanth Arvind was overshadowing his team mate and fellow fast bowling partner, Zaheer Khan. Arvind's four wickets yielded only fourteen runs but also, four wickets. The additional bonus was having Gayle made an imapct with the ball as well with three wickets as the RCB went about breaking the KXIP further to end up on 120 at the end of thier twenty overs, losing the match by eigthy-five runs.
