The Kolkata Knight Riders never really got going. And then rain impeded whatever little progress was attempted. However, there were no such problems for the Royal Challengers Bangalore who made their way into the IPL 4 final four playoffs to the delight of their home fans.

The Kolkata Knight Riders suffered one of their worst starts this season, losing three wickets for thirty runs after only six runs. The Royal Challengers Bangalore bowlers were on target enough to take the strength out of the line up in the form of Jacques Kallis and the KKR captain, Gautam Gambhir.
Just when Yusuf Pathan tried to push matters on for the visitors, the rain came down, leading to a lengthy delay. Even when it appeared play would finally resume, more rain trickled down to bring the Duckworth Lewis method into the picture. Yusuf Pathan's thirty-eight runs from twenty-four balls before Charl Langeveldt struck for his second wicket of the day was the KKR's only saving grace as they finished on eighty-nine runs after thirteen overs.
Requiring 102 runs from the thirteen overs, the Royal Challengers Bangalore were put in a comfortable position by none other than Chris Gayle himself yet again. Hammering away with thirty-eight runs from only twelve balls, Gayle was all power and authority as he smashed a couple of sixes to go with the five boundaries to ensure that the RCB were on their way to a breezy win.
Although Kalli played his part in taking the catch of Gayle and then a couple of wickets to cause minor hiccups, the Royal Challengers Bangalore were never in doubt of a victory, sealing the match with three balls to spare.
