The Deccan Chargers, for half their innings, did not look like they were going to get the better of the Mumbai Indians. However, credit must go to the team to fight the best team in the IPL 4 season to beat them by ten runs in front of strong Mumbai crowd at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

After two defeats against the Rajasthan Royals and the Kings XI Punjab, the Mumbai Indians would have liked to have to go into the IPL 4 playoffs with greater run momentum under their belt. That was their aim at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. However, their plans did not go as designed.
The Deccan Chargers got off to an unflattering start as they lost their first wicket, that of Michael Lumb, in the first over courtesy Lasith Malinga. Just when it seemed that Sunny Sohal and the Deccan Chargers captain, Kumar Sangakkara, seemed to stringing together a partnership, Sangakkara was sent back with the score on thirty-nine, and his personal score on twenty-seven.
More mayhem was to follow as they lost JP Duminy and Chipli as Dhawal Kulkarni made inroads, three wickets for the innings to his credit as Deccan Chargers was reduced to four down for seventy-seven.
Shikar Dhawan's twenty-seven from eighteen balls provided the much needed final rush of runs that the Deccan Chargers desperately needed to reach a score of 136.
However, the Mumbai Indians soon found themselves in hot water. Aiden Blizzard was the first wicket to fall with the score on nine after two overs as the Deccan Chargers opened surprisingly with JP Duminy. The second wicket fell, much to the anguish of the Mumbai Indians captain Sachin Tendulkar at the other end, as Ambati Rayudu made enough room for Ishant Sharma to send the stumps knocked out with the score now on nineteen. It was soon three for twenty-five as Ishant Sharma had Rohit Sharma stumped.
Andrew Symonds was not allowed to flex his muscles either as Amit Mishra sent him packing. Sachin Tendulkar had the onus on himself in a scorecard that saw single digit figures to ensure Mumbai Indians would not collapse embarrassingly at home. However, Tendulkar was curtailed to thirty-seven runs, dismissed by Anand Rajan who certainly enjoyed the spotlight to pick three wickets for the match to add to Ishant's two to keep the Mumbai Indians down. Tirumalasetti Suman's partnership ended with Tendulkar moments before Tendulkar was dismissed with the score on eighty-three at six down.
Kieron Pollard and Harbhajan Singh tried injecting some life into the proceedings, desperate to keep Mumbai in the hunt only to be out by ten runs in the end as the Deccan Chargers always looked like the winners once they had Mumbai Indians under their control.
