As the IPL 4 season has seen the end of the league stage, here are some of the batsmen who grabbed the limelight. Not surprisingly it is Chris Gayle is leading the IPL 4's leading run scoring batsmen.

IPL 4's Leading Run scorers:
1. Chris Gayle - 511 Runs
Two centuries is the way to do it. Having played far fewer matches than all the other players - Gayle played 9 IPL matches while most of the others in this list have played all fourteen matches, Gayle tops the average at 85.16, way ahead of the rest with almost double figures.
Gayle has been the force behind the Royal Challengers Bangalore and it is not surprising to see them at the top of the IPL 4 points table and into the IPL 4 qualifier round.
2. Shaun Marsh - 504 runs
Shaun Marsh has to be credited for continuing to do what he has for the Kings XI Punjab, put them in contention even when there has been little to write home about. Marsh was certainly a key along with Adam Gilchrist in almost getting the Kings XI Punjab to the IPL 4 qualifier.
3. Sachin Tendulkar - 477 runs
Sachin Tendulkar is like vintage wine; it tastes better, feels better, looks better and continues to linger. The Mumbai Indians captain has been the sublime force behind the team and to him, despite the runs, he will know the task is not over, rather far from it.
4. Paul Valthaty - 463 runs
Another Kings XI Punjab find, Paul Valthaty stood out in outstanding manner with an IPL century that people have still not stopped talking about.
5. Virat Kohli - 444 runs
The Royal Challengers Bangalore rate him so highly that they consider Virat Kohli the next Indian captain. With the consistent form he has been showing, Kohli would want the captaincy, RCB and India at some stage, but perhaps after winning the IPL 4 for the team.
Bringing up the rear of the top ten IPL 4 leading run scorers:
6. Michael Hussey - 429 runs
7. Virender Sehwag - 424 runs
8. Jacques Kallis - 417 runs
( Jacques Kallis may not have IPL century to his name but for consistency, look no further. )
9. Shikar Dhawan - 400 runs
10. Adam Gilchrist - 383 runs
( Remember his dynamite innings that sunk the Mumbai Indians!)
