The IPL franchisees, barring the Kings XI Punjab, have revealed the players they would like to carry into IPL 4 from the IPL's past seasons. And some have seen a few shocking drops.

The Mumbai Indians have perhaps pulled off the least surprises by retaining the MI captain, Sachin Tendulkar, and along with him, expectedly held Kieron Pollard back from the IPL 4 auctions as well. They have, however, granted Harbhajan Singh is wish by retaining him alongside Sri Lankan fast bowler, Lasith Malinga.
Another team that pulled no surprises whatsoever was the Chennai Super Kings. They have held onto Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the CSK, and along with him, also kept close to them, South Africa's Albie Morkel, Suresh Raina and Murali Vijay, creating nothing new from the predicted platter of players.
Delhi Daredevils had a mixed bag of goodies for Virender Sehwag and Australian fats bowler, Dirk Nannes, but surprisingly have let go of Gautam Gambhir, their captain when Sehwag stepped down.
Adam Gilchrist will be twiddling his thumbs after the Deccan Chargers have decided to go for a fresh restart with Kolkata Knight Riders almost doing the same except for retaining Chris Gayle, no doubt after the latter has been dilly dallying on his West Indies contract.
The Royal Challengers have a few surprises up their sleeve as well as they have decided home loyalty means nothing by dumping both, Anil Kumble and Rahul Dravid, in favour of Virat Kohli. Ever more surprisingly they do not seem interested in retaining either Ross Taylor, Kevin Pietersen or Dale Steyn.
The Rajasthan Royals are keeping their plans for the IPL 4 2011 season on track by announcing that Shane Warne and Shane Watson are theirs into the next season but have surprisingly dumped Yusuf Pathan despite the latter shining for them.
The Kings XI Punjab are still to announce their picks at the time of writing this article.
