After reports that most of the IPL franchisees were against the new rules, there are murmurs that they will be taking their grievances to the IPL Governing Council.

After a lot of see sawing back and forth on the issue of player retention, the IPL GC announced a four tier pay structure for a maximum of four players that the existing IPL teams could retain.
However, while some of the high profile teams such as the Mumbai Indians and the Chennai Super Kings are interested in retaining players such as Sachin Tendulkar and Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the rest of the franchisees are less inclined to be locking up half their purse for the IPL 4 player auctions by retaining players and believe the only fair to do it, particularly in light of two new teams, would be to put all the players into the auction pool.
Vijay Mallya, owner of the Royal Challengers Bangalore, is supposedly going to act as representative to take the plea on behalf of all franchisees.
